So you want to stay connected to the greatest sport known to man—and woman? Congratulations, you’ve come to the right place! Officiating is an incredibly rewarding, occasionally intense, and always fulfilling experience. And we’re in high demand!

To join the Syracuse Wrestling Officials Association (girls & boys wrestling), follow the below steps:

1. Contact our Vice President, Derrick Smith. He can answer any questions you may have, assuage any fears, and explain the process to you. He can be reached at dtsmith141[at]gmail.com.
2. Attend our weekly Monday night trainings at 6:00PM, beginning October 27th. These will run through December 17th. Location is 2721 Brewerton Road, Mattydale, NY 13211 (parking and entrance in the back).
3. Attend regular Sunday night general association meetings at 5:00, beginning November 2 (twice per month). We meet at the American Legion, 1951 W. Fayette St. Syracuse, NY.
4. You must also pass the National Federation Exam with a score of 85% or higher. We will discuss questions to ensure you’re well-prepared to do so.
5. Be evaluated at the Blindmens Wrestling Tournament, date TBD, 2025 at CNS High School.
6. Pay membership dues by Dec. 7th, 2025. Dues equal to one Varsity Fee.
7. Work the Scoring Tables at the Section III Finals – O.C.C.
